Terms & Conditions

By creating an account or entering a game, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully.

⚠️ Important Notice

Obvio is a skill-based prize competition, not gambling. It is not regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. You must be 18 or over and resident in England, Scotland, or Wales to participate for real money.

1. About Obvio & Legal Status

Obvio is operated by SYNQ Ltd (Company Number 123456), registered in England and Wales. Registered Address: London, London St. References to "we", "us", "our" mean SYNQ Ltd.

1.1 Legal Classification

Obvio is a skill-based prize competition under UK law. The outcome of each game is determined by player knowledge and strategic skill — specifically, answering correctly while avoiding the most popular answer. No random number generator or house edge determines outcomes. Accordingly, Obvio does not hold and is not required to hold a Gambling Commission operating licence.

1.2 Free Entry Alternative

A genuine free entry route is available for all paid competitions. Players may request a free entry token by emailing info@playobvio.app. Free entry participants compete on equal terms with paid participants.

1.3 Acceptance

By registering an account or entering any game, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any game-specific rules. If you do not agree, you must not use Obvio.

2. Eligibility

Age Restriction

You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in any paid game. You must self-certify your age at account creation. We may request documentary evidence of age at any time and will suspend your account pending verification if required.

2.1 Requirements

To participate in paid games you must: be at least 18 years old; be a natural person (not a bot or automated system); be resident in England, Scotland, or Wales; have a verified account with a valid payment method; and not be an employee or immediate family member of SYNQ Ltd.

2.2 Eligible Territories

Paid participation is available to residents of England, Scotland, and Wales. Northern Ireland is excluded pending separate legal assessment. You are responsible for ensuring your participation is lawful in your jurisdiction.

2.3 Age Verification

We use third-party identity verification to confirm your age. You may be required to submit a government-issued photo ID. We may suspend your account and withhold pending prizes pending successful verification.

3. Account Registration

3.1 One Account Per Person

You may only hold one Obvio account. Creating multiple accounts to gain a competitive advantage, circumvent restrictions, or claim multiple bonuses is prohibited and will result in permanent account closure and forfeiture of any balance.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately at info@playobvio.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

3.3 Accurate Information

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information at registration. Providing false information — including a false name, age, or address — is grounds for immediate account termination and forfeiture of any balance.

4. Game Rules & Mechanics

4.1 How Obvio Works

Obvio is a real-time multiplayer elimination game:

  1. Players pay an entry fee (or use a free token) to join a game lobby
  2. All players receive the same question simultaneously
  3. Players must submit an answer within the time limit
  4. Incorrect answers result in immediate elimination
  5. Among correct answers, the most popular (the "System Answer") is eliminated
  6. Players who answered correctly AND avoided the System Answer survive
  7. The game continues until one or more players remain, who share the prize pool

4.2 The System Answer

The System Answer is determined dynamically from actual answers submitted in that round — it is the most commonly submitted correct answer. In small games (fewer than 3 players), or where no clear majority exists, it may be determined by a pre-set house answer. The System Answer is revealed to all players at the end of each round.

4.3 Time Limits

Each round has a fixed time limit displayed on screen. Failure to submit before the timer expires may result in elimination. Time limits cannot be extended for individual players due to device or connection issues.

4.4 AI Players (Bots)

Some sessions may include AI-controlled players ("bots") to ensure games can start with sufficient participants. Bots are identified in game lobbies. Bot entry fees contribute to the prize pool. Bots do not have access to other players' answers.

4.5 Technical Failures

In the event of a technical failure that materially affects game fairness (e.g. server outage, question delivery failure), we reserve the right to void the game and refund all entry fees. We will not void a game solely because a player experienced connection issues on their own device.

4.6 Game Integrity & Logs

We maintain complete logs of every game session including questions, player answers, elimination decisions, and prize distributions. These records are available to players on request and are the authoritative record in any dispute.

5. Entry Fees & Payment

5.1 Entry Fees

Entry fees are displayed clearly before you join any paid game. By clicking "Join", you confirm acceptance of the entry fee and authorise the charge to your account balance. Entry fees are non-refundable once a game has started, except where we void a game under clause 4.5.

5.2 Platform Rake

Obvio retains a platform fee ("rake") from each game's prize pool. The rake percentage is displayed in each game lobby before entry. Typical rake rates are between 10% and 20% and are never hidden.

5.3 No Credit Cards

In line with the UK Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators, Obvio does not accept credit card payments for entry fees. Only debit cards, bank transfers, and approved digital wallets are accepted.

6. Prizes & Withdrawals

💰 Withdrawal Timeline

Withdrawal requests are processed within 5 working days of submission. Withdrawals are subject to identity verification. Minimum withdrawal: £5.

6.1 Prize Pool Calculation

Prize pool = (total entry fees from all participants) minus platform rake. The prize pool is split equally among all surviving players at game end.

Example: 10 players × £5 = £50 total. 15% rake = £7.50. Prize pool = £42.50. 2 survivors = £21.25 each.

6.2 Prize Distribution

Prizes are credited to your Obvio wallet immediately upon game completion. We will not distribute prizes for games that did not complete the minimum required number of rounds, or where we have reason to believe the game was compromised.

6.3 Withdrawals

To withdraw: go to Wallet → Withdraw, enter the amount (minimum £5), select your withdrawal method, and confirm your identity if prompted. Withdrawal requests are processed within 5 working days (Monday–Friday, excluding UK public holidays). We will notify you by email if your withdrawal is delayed.

Withdrawals over £500 require enhanced identity verification (government-issued photo ID and proof of address).

Withdrawals will be declined or delayed where: your identity has not been verified; we suspect fraud or money laundering; your account is under investigation; or your account has been restricted or suspended.

6.4 Tax

Prize winnings from Obvio are not subject to UK income tax or capital gains tax for individual players. You are responsible for understanding and complying with any tax obligations in your own jurisdiction.

6.5 Unclaimed Balances

If your account is inactive for 12 consecutive months, we will notify you by email. If no activity occurs within 30 days of that notice, we may apply a monthly inactivity fee of £1 to cover administration costs. We will never reduce your balance below zero.

7. Responsible Gaming

Although Obvio is a skill competition and not gambling, we take player welfare seriously and provide the following tools:

7.1 Spending Limits

Set daily, weekly, or monthly deposit and entry fee limits in your account settings. Limits take effect immediately and cannot be increased for 24 hours.

7.2 Self-Exclusion

Voluntarily exclude yourself for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or permanently by contacting info@playobvio.app. Self-exclusion cannot be reversed before the chosen period expires.

8. Player Conduct

8.1 Prohibited Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension and potential forfeiture of balance:

  • Using automated tools, bots, scripts, or AI assistance to submit answers
  • Colluding with other players to manipulate game outcomes
  • Creating multiple accounts or sharing accounts
  • Exploiting bugs or technical vulnerabilities
  • Using VPNs to circumvent geographic restrictions
  • Providing false identity or age information
  • Harassment, abuse, or threatening behaviour toward other players or staff

8.2 Consequences

We reserve the right to void any game, withhold any prize, and permanently close any account where we have reasonable grounds to believe a breach has occurred. We will provide written reasons and offer an opportunity to appeal under clause 11.

9. Liability & Disclaimers

9.1 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total entry fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim; or (b) £100. We are not liable for indirect losses, loss of anticipated winnings, or losses caused by third-party providers.

9.2 Consumer Rights

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK law.

10. Suspension & Termination

10.1 Our Right to Suspend

We may suspend or terminate your account where you breach these terms, we are required to do so by law, we suspect fraud or money laundering, or we decide to discontinue the service.

10.2 Your Right to Close

You may close your account at any time by contacting info@playobvio.app. Any verified balance will be returned within 5 working days of account closure, subject to identity verification.

11. Disputes & Complaints

11.1 Complaints Process

Contact us at info@playobvio.app with full details. We will acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve within 10 working days.

11.2 Escalation

If unsatisfied, escalate to info@playobvio.app. We will provide a final written response within 20 working days of escalation.

11.3 Alternative Dispute Resolution

If you remain dissatisfied, you may refer your complaint to an approved ADR provider. Details will be provided in our final response letter. Online disputes may also be submitted at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and/or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
